From Caregiver to Founder: Built from Lived Experience
Lindsay began her journey in caregiving as a nursing assistant, working across memory care, assisted living, nursing homes, and hospice. She initially planned to pursue a nursing career after earning her business degree but soon realized she was not suited for clinical work due to a discomfort with blood and needles. She stepped back and reconsidered her path while continuing to volunteer in care settings she felt passionate about. That turning point led her into writing and tech entrepreneurship, where she founded two companies. Along the way, she gained valuable experience through both a startup failure and a successful asset acquisition.
Shortly after the birth of her daughter, Lindsay experienced a serious injury that left her unable to walk or drive and dependent on others for nearly two years. This shifted her role from caregiver to care recipient and gave her a deeper understanding of vulnerability and support. In the years that followed, she became her grandmother’s primary caregiver and later supported both her parents and her chronically ill daughter. These experiences gave her insight into the full spectrum of caregiving across generations. They ultimately inspired her to found CareBloom and LTCareNav and to write Plan Today, Protect Tomorrow.
