Angela Fairhurst is the Founder and CEO of Geri-Gadgets®, a company dedicated to improving the lives of aging adults living with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, cognitive challenges, and neurodivergence, as well as the family caregivers and care partners who support them.
Inspired by her mother’s journey with Lewy body dementia, Angela recognized a significant gap in meaningful, age-appropriate activities and sensory engagement tools for older adults experiencing cognitive decline.
Drawing on her extensive background in television production, product development, and creative problem-solving, Angela developed patented sensory engagement products designed to encourage comfort, calm, purposeful activity, and human connection.
Her personal caregiving experience became the foundation for a mission to bring greater dignity, joy, and meaningful engagement to individuals living with dementia while helping caregivers find new opportunities for connection with their loved ones.
Through Geri-Gadgets®, Angela continues to advocate for person-centered dementia care, innovative sensory solutions, and a greater understanding of the importance of meaningful engagement throughout the aging journey.
About Geri-Gadgets®:
Geri-Gadgets® was founded to address a challenge experienced by countless families and professional caregivers: the lack of safe, engaging, and age-appropriate activities designed specifically for older adults living with dementia and other cognitive conditions.
After witnessing her mother’s struggles with Lewy body dementia, Angela discovered that many traditional activity products were too complicated, overstimulating, difficult to clean, or designed primarily for children rather than aging adults.
This experience inspired the creation of Geri-Gadgets® SafeTouch™, a collection of washable, non-toxic silicone sensory engagement tools designed to promote calm, connection, and meaningful participation.
The Geri-Gadgets® product collection includes the Flower Bucket, Shapes Bucket, Fidget Gidget® Bucket, and SafeTouch™ Calming Stones. Developed with input from caregivers, gerontologists, and dementia care specialists, these innovative products are designed to provide accessible, low-stimulation opportunities for sensory engagement.
Geri-Gadgets® products are used in senior living communities, memory care settings, PACE organizations, adult day programs, libraries, and healthcare environments. The company collaborates with activity directors, recreational therapists, and professional care teams to help make meaningful engagement more accessible.
