Her work was inspired by her mother\u2019s 30-year journey with dementia and has focused on changing how society understands, discusses, and responds to Alzheimer\u2019s disease and other forms of dementia.<\/p>\n<p>Through Alzheimer\u2019s Speaks, Lori has created and supported educational programs, advocacy initiatives, interviews, resources, and conversations that bring together people living with dementia, family caregivers, professionals, innovators, and organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Lori is also the co-founder of Dementia Map and serves on the Board of AlzAuthors, where she continues helping families connect with trusted dementia and caregiving resources.<\/p>\n<p>In this conversation, Lance and Lori discuss the realities of dementia and caregiving, the importance of listening to people living with dementia, the lessons family caregivers often learn through experience, and why compassion, dignity, connection, and person-centered care must remain at the heart of the caregiving journey.<\/p>\n<p>They also explore the need for stronger caregiver resources, better dementia education, greater collaboration across the care community, and a shift away from fear-based perceptions of dementia.<\/p>\n<p>About Alzheimer\u2019s Speaks:<\/p>\n<p>Alzheimer\u2019s Speaks is a dementia advocacy, education, and media platform founded by Lori La Bey.
